- Examination to find the source of fever
- Tests only when needed
- Clear guidance on fever medicine, fluids and home monitoring
- Correct use of thermometers and nebulisers
- Antibiotics only when indicated; hospital referral for severe illness
When to see a doctor
- Fever in a baby under 3 months
- Fast breathing, chest indrawing or blue lips — seek urgent care
- Drowsiness, seizures or a rash that does not fade when pressed
- Fever lasting more than 3 days
