Biography
Dr. Ferdous Ara Jenny is a child specialist in Uttara, Dhaka, with sub-specialist training in children's liver, digestive and nutritional problems. After MBBS from Dinajpur Medical College she completed a five-year MD residency in Paediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU, now Bangladesh Medical University — the PG Hospital), and later the MCPS in Paediatrics from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Over more than ten years she has worked in government hospitals, the country's leading postgraduate university hospital and private hospitals, including skilled handling of emergency patients in and outside Dhaka. She sees children every evening at two chambers on Gausul Azam Avenue, Sector 13, Uttara.
Parents bring her everyday childhood illnesses — fever, cough, diarrhoea, poor appetite — as well as the problems her MD training focused on: jaundice in newborns and older children, liver disease, long-standing tummy pain, constipation and growth or nutrition concerns. Her research, published under the name Ferdous Ara Begum, includes case reports on biliary atresia-like conditions, Budd-Chiari syndrome in infancy, Caroli's syndrome and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
